Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 April 2026

1. Who we are

These terms govern your use of MyAIDefence, a service operated by Trance Limited ("we", "us", "our") at myailawyer.info. By creating an account or using the service you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. What we are and are not

We are not a law firm and we are not a solicitor. MyAIDefence is an AI-assisted information and self-help service for members of the public dealing with civil legal matters in England and Wales. We do not provide legal advice. Nothing on the service is intended to create a solicitor-client relationship.

If you need legal advice you must consult a qualified solicitor or barrister. Where appropriate we may refer you (with your consent) to a panel solicitor — a separate retainer between you and that firm will then apply.

3. Your account

You must be 18 or over to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials confidential, and notify us immediately of any unauthorised use. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy.

4. Pricing

The core legal-insight service on myailawyer.info is provided free of charge to verified account holders. We do not require a subscription and we do not take payment to produce your insight, draft a Letter of Claim, or run the AI chat.

If you choose to take your matter forward via Mediate-AI (the sister mediation service) a one-off fee applies at that point. If you instruct a panel solicitor through us, the retainer is a separate contract between you and the firm, typically on a no-win-no-fee basis. In each case the price and the terms are disclosed before you commit and processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details on our servers.

5. Right to cancel paid services

Where you commit to a paid service (mediation via Mediate-AI, or a panel-solicitor retainer), you are entitled to the statutory rights set out in the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, including a 14-day cancellation right where applicable. By starting use of an AI-generated mediation or letter once the fee is paid you acknowledge the digital service has begun supply and may lose this right under regulation 37(1)(a); the relevant provider will explain this clearly at the point of purchase.

6. Panel referrals and pay-per-query reviews

If you choose Panel mode we transmit case information to your selected solicitor on the panel; the resulting retainer is between you and that solicitor and we are not party to it. Pay-per-query reviews in Hybrid mode are billed separately at the price shown at the time of purchase.

7. Your content

You retain all rights in the content you submit (questions, documents, drafts). You grant us a limited licence to process your content solely to provide the service: running it through our AI models, generating drafts, transmitting to a panel solicitor at your request, and operating our backups and security. We do not use your content to train AI models. We do not sell your data.

8. Acceptable use

Use of the service is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy. Breaching it may result in immediate suspension.

9. Intellectual property

The service, including its software, design, branding and AI prompts, is owned by Trance Limited and protected by intellectual property law. Case law and procedural information surfaced by the service is published under the Open Justice Licence and used under permission. Drafts produced for you are yours to use.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything that cannot be excluded under English law. We are not liable for losses caused by you acting on AI output without consulting a qualified lawyer for matters of significance, nor for loss arising from the conduct of any panel solicitor (whose retainer is separate from these terms).

11. AI output disclaimer

The AI features may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or out-of-date information. Always check the case law, statute and procedural rules cited before relying on them. See our AI Disclaimer for full detail.

12. Changes

We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that you may bring a claim in your local court if you are a consumer.
